Dawn Victoria - Artist Statement

My life was a storm of overwhelming emotions, lost connections, and a deep sense of being utterly adrift. I felt broken, defective, and hopeless.

Significant personal loss and battling trauma and mental health diagnoses pushed me to the edge. But in the midst of this darkness, I found a lifeline in art. When words failed, my brush and tools became my voice, a way to express the pain and begin to heal.

Through painting, drawing, and pyrography, I started to piece myself back together, discovering strength and resilience I never knew I had.

Now, I paint to share that journey, to empower others, and to. remind them that even in the deepest darkness, there is always light, and there is always hope.

"I create art because I believe in the transformative power of vulnerability and the healing potential of creativity. My 'why' is to connect with others who have felt lost, broken, or overwhelmed, and to offer them a visual reminder that they are not alone.

I want to celebrate the strength and resilience of women, to honour their journeys, and to inspire them to embrace their own power. My art is a testament to the idea that even from the deepest pain, beauty and purpose can emerge.

I want to bring hope, connection, and a sense of belonging to those who need it most.

I invite viewers to interpret my creations based on their own personal experiences and perspectives.
I hope to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness, embrace their passions, and to pursue their dreams fearlessly.
